Prof. Richard Scheffler selected as UC Berkeley Emeritus of the Year as a result, in part, of his work as a charter member of the Better Healthcare Policy Group.

Dear Richard

As President of the UC Berkeley Emeriti Association, I am delighted to let you know that you have been chosen as our 2024 Emeritus of the Year.  The pool of nominees was so deep this year that the Awards Committee recommended two of our energetic emeriti, both you and Michael Buckland, as recipients more than worthy of this honor.  Your continued teaching, research and service on and off campus make us all wonder if you have retired from anything!

This Fall we will be hosting an Awards Ceremony and Reception on the Women’s Faculty Club Patio to celebrate with you, your friends and colleagues.  I will be back in touch to determine a date that would be convenient for you and Michael.
