ACOs are recognized entities with a track record that appears to be trending toward successful savings.

• Medicare ACOs are already defined by some federal and/or state regulation.  20 states have active Medicaid ACO programs or are pursuing them.
• Characteristics of high-performing ACOs have been identified (see chart below) that perhaps should find their way into our Team Care description.
